  3. There's no way in 7 hells Thomas would have done that 1k in a 70's Datsun Z. It's all Rack & Pinion steering in a heavy steel body. I know, I inherited my mom's '73 260z and it was my only car for YEARS, oddly enough replaced by a '76 Rabbit which was a comparative ninja on logging roads with it's hilariously long suspension hidden inside.

  5. '86 Scirocco was mine. Drove it from Portland to LA to Miami and back like an 18 year old fool with no idea how unlikely a 135k mile VW was to survive the nearly 9000 mile trip with no more maintenance than an oil change. Downright miraculous.
