  3.  louis foxwell  the greedy ones as you put it are the people making more then 10 million dollars a year. The mean income per capita was $48,150 in 2017. Ar the mean income it will take 207 years for the avg American to earn what the ultra wealthy earn before they start to pay the top marginal tax in a single year at 10 million dollars. So who is the greedy person? As to the question of is it a good idea. Yes in the 20s we had high income inequality actually less then today and it caused the great depression. From the 30s through the 70s we had high marginal taxes to correct the income inequality and it was the golden age of economic growth in the USA. If the wealthy have to choose between taxes and investment in their companies they reinvest and grow the company. Today with low taxes they take the money out in stock buybacks and dividends. So yes I believe in learning from history and the lesson on income inequality and marginal taxes is clear for anyone who cares enough to study it.
