This is also why we need Medicare for All. When everyone using the same healthcare system it will work because they entire country will use it wealthy and poor alike.

Michael Whitted he is only one of many pushing Medicare for All. He is also still in Congress. So again what was your point?
5
Michael Whitted do you have a point to make????

Michael Whitted you are funny. He was winning until everyone else dropped out and the entire establishment fell in line about how Biden is so electable he is now polling the same as Hillary Clinton did against Trump. Because we know a centrist corporatist is the one candidate trump did beat.

@NeonNights80 a public option is a chance for the government to become the insurer of last resort forcing the sickest highest cost people on the government while the private sector profits off the healthy people and the right wing propaganda system complains that the government system is more expensive. It is a bad idea. Also if you think Biden is able to get it through now when he couldn't get it with a supermajority you are dreaming. The path to Medicare for all is to simply get politicians wbo have the balls to lower the eligibility age of Medicare to 0. Simple and done we have a Medicare system passed decades ago we just need to lower the eligibility to cover 100% of the population not only the elderly.

@joanalcala7303 this is only a problem when people become complacent and elect idiot conservatives who don't believe in government. But even with all the cost cutting in England their single payer system has handled the pandemic better then here. Plus look at how Boris Johnson did a 180 on NHS when he was hospitalized. The reality is single payer healthcare is protected by the fact that wealthy people in power and politicians don't want to distort their own healthcare. Just like how we have never gone back to dirt roads after the government took responsibility for road management. Or how we don't fire all the government workers supporting our air traffic system and allow planes to fall out of the sky or crash into each other at the airports. The examples if things our government does well are endless you are just brainwashed by half a century of propaganda to the point you can't even see the quality of the roads outside your front door.

@dianarobertson3478 maybe Obama shouldn't have used the Heritage foundation plan as the basis of his healthcare system when he didn't need a single Republican vote.

@NeonNights80 trying the same thing and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. Voting for the same politician who couldn't pass a public option when he had a supermajority and didn't need a Republican vote to do it and expecting him to pass it now is delusional. I really don't understand your last comment it sounds like you are saying either have the government insure no one or everyone. I can assure you the first is a non starter tell people over 65 that you are ending Medicare and you will see politicians bounced out of Washington and flooded with calls faster than you can finish the sentence. So I guess your point is that a public option isn't workable and we need to go directly to Medicare for All. Honestly I could give a shit less what the Republicans fear monger about let them look like heartless bastards who would deny people healthcare during a global pandemic. Because that is a losing argument when 70% of all Americans want Medicare for All in the latest polls. Let the Republicans pander to the remaining 30% of their base because last time I checked in a democracy 70% support is considered a winning result for a candidate.

@dianarobertson3478 the ACA left 10s of millions of Americans without insurance so no everyone didn't get coverage. Also if you bothered to check you would see that the cost of insurance has gone up year over year. So sorry but if that was the goal of the ACA it was a total failure. All it did was prove that our for profit system is not salvageable. That the a profit motive has no place in healthcare.

@dianarobertson3478 the corporate Democrats are also for profiteering and big business. It is why Obama bailed out the banks while allowing 6 million Americans to get foreclosed on. The reality is they could have bailed out the homeowner helping the people and saved the banking sector just as well but there was no profit for BlackRock who became the nation's largest landlord during the 2009 bailout.
1
@dianarobertson3478 6 million Americans where foreclosed on so maybe you where one of the few lucky ones but 6 million Americans is a big flaw with that legislation
1
@dianarobertson3478 you can blame the failure of the Democratic party on the Republicans all you want. But the Obama administration chose to bailout the bankers not the citizens. John Stewart pointed out at the time the fallacy of saying they couldn't pay off the mortgage for citizens because of moral hazard while exnoring the moral hazard of bailing out the banks who wrote those mortgages in the first place.
