If those small businesses could replace you with a robot today they would at $7.2 per hour. The reality is prices in caplistist greed based society are not based on the cost of production they are set to the maximum people will pay for the product. Raising the minimum wage will only lower the profit margin for the likes of waltan family Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk when they have to share their "winning" with the workers who earned it.

So you think the CEO taking home millions of dollars in bonuses will work in a dirty office because he doesn't want to pay a fraction of 1 percent of his pay to keep it clean. You sure do see the wealthy in this country as insanely greedy

@thedissident4748 he lives in his parents basement and daddy forces mommy to turn the bedsheets into his hood and robs.

@valentinzapata6756 the CEO making millions of dollars doesn't live at my house so I don't hire a maid service I do my own housekeeping. That must be what you are asking about.

@crjcrj8443 autonation scare is BS I worked as a controls engineer for over 2 decades designing automated systems. Labor isn't even discussed as a cost when it comes to automation it is always speed and quality control. You know why companies have as many other reason to want to automate like people not showing up to work because they are sick or couldn't afford to fix their cars that labor cost is never discussed everyone knows it is worthwhile to spend more on capital equptiment that our tax codes allow you to deduct than labor. So the minimum wage has zero impact on the speed of automation. Ironically many of the reason people claim to not want to hire someone would go away with a higher minimum wage and Medicare for All. If you are worried about the burden of hiring someone fight for people to earn a living wage so they can pay their cost of living so their car doesn't stay unrepaired and breakdown on the way to work. Get them Medicare for All so employer are not having to fund our bloated for profit healthcare system and people don't end up living with illnesses and calling in sick.

@crjcrj8443 wow you mean during a global pandemic a restaurant closed? Well that definitely means we should have more starvation wages.
1
@crjcrj8443 so your point is McDonald's a year ago thought one location was profitable enough to justify automation and the other wasn't and closed it down. But you would rather we had kept it open and kept all the employees across the board at entry level jobs working for a starvation wage? Because if the future of McDonald's is autonation anyway why do you want people to work 40 hours a week and not be able to support themselves in our society?
1
@crjcrj8443 Globally famous brand McDonald's recorded a net income of over six billion U.S. dollars in 2019. So you think we should work for starvation wages because a company that made 6 billion dollars in 2019 closed one branch because they didn't want to pay a living wage to the workers there. Wow talk about defending the greed of the wealthy elites. Tell me of we nationally make the minimum wage $15 do you think the board of directors at McDonald's will simply say sorry we dont want the billions in profits anymore if we have to give up a small percentage of our 6 billion in profits to pay the help the new minimum wage we will give up all 6 billion instead???
1
@crjcrj8443 I hate to tell you but those changes are comming regardless. The touchscreen doesn't call in sick or get in a fight with management. But thanks for putting the profits of a 6 billion dollars corporations above the needs of the working class Americans. Dude tipping isn't the solution to employer not paying a living wage.
1
@crjcrj8443 so you think because the owners of McDonald's are greedy we should work for starvation wages. Got it.
1
@crjcrj8443 well clearly the market could bare the increase as McDonald's made 6 billion in profits. So the price has not exceeded what the market will bare.
1
@crjcrj8443 how long should someone have to work to earn a big mac? Because If you are arguing that moving the min wage from $7.20 to $15 will take the cost if a big mac from $8 to $11 than the working class wins because it takes the cost of a big mac from over an hours pay to less than an hours pay.
1
@crjcrj8443 I don't get it you want me to feel bad for the poor person who has the resources to qualify for a 2 to 3 million dollar loan????
1
@sirrenn1936 you apparently can't look at the bigger picture. You just said the jobs will go away regardless but we can't mandate employers pay a living wage while the jobs are here. Great logic. But please do tell how much does the robot cost? Oh right there is no clear answer because it all depends on the complexity of the job being automated.
1
@sirrenn1936 so you do think it is ok for people to work for starvation wages. Interesting.

You don't cause inflation when you take people off welfare by paying them a living wage. You need to listen to less right wing propaganda.

@citywitt3202 there are a lot of reasons the USA doesn't want inflation. The entire economy is based on cheap credit and people businesses taking on more debt. Plus our government has massive debt. Back in the 90s Perot warned that the interest on the national debt would surpass the payment if we didn't drop interest rates.
