If they want to end this problem do 2 things. 1 rewrite the law so that if the loan holder wants to foreclose on something they have to pay the loan holder back the equity they have on the item the loan is on. This would end foreclosure on a home that someone didn't pay 30 cents on. 2. If there is a case of fraud like this one where the company failed to protect the interests of the home owner and foreclosure on a home they could have refinanced them force them to provide a home of equal value to the home owner free and clear with no loan. That would clearly discourage them from foreclosures that are not justified.
