Next time someone talks to Diane Feinstein or Nancy Pelosi they should ask them what level of support does policy need in a democracy for them to listen to the citizens and pass policy we want? I am only asking because clearly 70% is not high enough or we would have Medicare for All. 80% isn't high enough or we would have the green new deal. So tell me what level of support does policy need before you will actually represent the voters?

@nunya2445 nice to see you don't understand the difference between climate and weather. Your argument makes as much since as saying there is no sun because it is night and everyone can see it is dark at night.

Diane Feinstein I have been doing this for the last 30 years. Yes we know that is why we are telling you to listen to AOC who hasn't been making the policies which have made this crisis in the first place for the last 30 years.

@nunya2445 wow the evil Al Gore you really do have nothing left to add to any discussion. Must be hard to keep your head in the sand when all of the scientists tell you just how wrong you are. Go troll somewhere else maybe you could tweet with trump for a while he is about your speed.

William Webber I didn't realize AOC wrote the IPCC climate report. Your either ignorant beyond belief or fox news has you so scared of AOC that you see her hiding behind every corner. Do some homework and you will see she isn't the bloggy man you have been told she is. Here maybe you would like to actually know who wrote that report and how the where selected. https://www.ipcc.ch/2018/04/06/ar6-author-selection/

William Webber Just because I can't predict what second the sun will rise tomorrow I still understand it will rise. You argue over the dates Al Gore gave for event while exnoring year after year the record global high temperatures. But heck don't let facts get in the way of enjoying your status quo lifestyle. Better to go to war in Venezuela for oil then to build some renewable energy here in the USA why employee America for our energy needs when we can fight a war in Venezuela and Iran? Heck we have gotten away with 2 decades of oil wars in the middle east why stop killing our troops for oil now.

@nunya2445 wow when you can't understand the difference between macro and micro your hopeless. You have no clue how stupid you sound or you wouldn't post things like that.

@rockyshorz3193 how does you year of the anti male candidate explain why Allison Hartson the Justice Democrat running for this seat lost? Oh right it doesn't maybe everything doesn't revolve around gender after all.

cj p wow look at old outdated wind turbines to determine what the future of technology is good idea. How about we look at the off shore wind turbines which are the single cheapest form of new energy today even cheaper to install new then running existing coal plants instead. But heck you should just get out your Stanley steamer and use it to justify why a horse is better then a car. It would make about as much since.

cj p you really want to compare energy production subsidies? Because I am game for that the ff industry is the most heavily subsidized industry we have and that is before you count the cost of the oil wars we are in the process of starting in Venezuela and Iran after 17 years of war in the middle east. So please let's end all subsidies and see who wins. For starters we can end the tax write off for all indirect and direct costs of drilling for oil. Once we do that the fracking industry which is already bankrupt will definitely not be cost competitive. But you might like to read this before you complain any more about subsidies because I am all for a level playing field it will only serve to reduce the cost of renewable energy compared to ff. https://www.nrdc.org/experts/danielle-droitsch/time-us-end-fossil-fuel-subsidies

cj p if you own assets which are costed out over half a century when you build them you have a vested financial interest in keeping those assets in operation. Not a very hard concept to understand. It is also why we see very few if any new coal plants being built.
1
cj p you are missing the point that when that plant was built in the 60 the cost was prorated over the next half century. The owners have a vested interest in seeing their asset make a return on that investment. But thanks for finally pointing out your bias as someone who works in the industry. I would suggest you look into retaining to work in a new industry instead of denying that we need to protect this planet for our children.

cj p oh and on the topic of lifespan solar panels are guaranteed for 80% of rated new capacity after 25 years and the mounting system is simply a metal framework. No one actually knows how long they will last because panels built in the 70s at the start of the solar PV technology are still in use today with no mantaince beyond removing the snow. I know this to be a fact from first hand experience. I helped move a set of the panels from the 70s when my uncle sold them to his neighbors and bought a new more efficient system.

cj p funny how you had to go back almost a decade to cherry pick your data. But like I said end all the ff subdies and I am on your side I won't even ask that the oil industry pay back what they have stolen in the past from our government. So tell me are you glad to see our troops will be fighting another war in Venezuela for oil? How many American troops have had to go to war for wind farms or solar PV systems? Oh right zero how many have already died in the last 17 years in the middle east? I honestly don't know but I have many friends who are permanently disabled as a result of fighting for our oil companies in the middle east over the last decade. While I support our men and women in uniform it is a disgrace that we throw away their lives and futures for oil. But if you can live with that price your values are different them mine. Have a nice day I am done wasting time with someone who is only worried they might need to find a new job and doesn't want to admit the real cost our society paid for your paycheck.

@arturorobles8652 which is a democracy how? Sounds more like a plutocracy to me.
