That healthcare plan sounds like the current criminal Justice system where everyone has access to a public defender but if you want a qualified lawyer you have to pay for them. So on Tulsi Gabbard healthcare plan poor people get the public doctor and wealthy people who can afford it get to see the specialist who actually knows how to cute you. No thanks I will vote for Bernie Sanders where everyone gets accept to qualify care and it is paid for by the government. We don't need a class based healthcare system.

@winger468 you missed the part where she said if you are on single payer you do not have a choice in which doctor you see. If you have private insurance you can choose your doctor. Bernie Sanders is very that Medicare for All doesn't limit your choice of doctors. That all the doctors will accept Medicare and you can choose any doctor you want Medicare will pay the bill. Same as today where people on Medicare can choose their care provider. So Tulsi has a 2 tier system where you only have a choice if you are wealthy enough to buy it.

@justcalmdown1027 Bernie Sanders plan expands what is covered by Medicare and allows supplemental insurance but it doesn't limit the doctors you can see while on Medicare.

@Thorn99855 I really don't understand your point. We have a system today where we ration access to healthcare bases on your wealth. People today literally sit in their car at the hospital trying to decide if they take their child into the emergency room knowing that it will cause them to fall into bankruptcy and cost them everything they have. Tulsi is offering you a plan where we ration the quality of the healthcare you have access to based on your wealth. I guess that is slightly better but it still is basically wealth based healthcare. Bernie Sanders is offering you a system similar to Norwary or Canada where your personal wealth isn't a factor. A system where you get treatment based on your healthcare needs. Sure there will be some sort of rationing but it is based on your illness not your wealth. If you need knee surgery and someone else has just been in a car crash and is bleeding out they get put in the head of the line and you have to wait until they are stabilized before you get your knee surgery. That is how healthcare should work if there is a need for anyone to wait the hospital should make that choice based on medical need not personal wealth.

@dr.dragon2284 TY I couldn't have said it better.

@winger468 I will make this very simple Bernie Sanders does not stop supplemental insurance. His plan allows you to buy supplemental insurance to cover anything that is not covered by Medicare the same as you have today. Since you are on Medicare all you will see as a change is expanded coverage by your Medicare. It will expand to include dental vision and precipitation glasses. So again with Bernie Sanders plan you get to keep your supplemental insurance. Is that clear?

@c2farr what is the problem with that perfect situation for the insurance company they can take your money and give you nothing in return. That is the model they love it maximizes their profits.

@jayv3380 check the opt out rate in Canada and get back to me on how big a problem that is in a single payer system.

@MK-oz2lf only if you don't believe healthcare is a human right.

@MK-oz2lf don't worry your union will be able to negotiate for supplemental insurance at a lower cost to cover the things not covered by Medicare. The fear mongering around the current union benefits is laughable considering I have only see employees healthcare plans get worse my entire working career and I have seen unions dieing a slow death in this country. If you truly care about unions you will know Bernie Sanders has the best voting record in Congress for supporting unions and workers rights.
