This is what happens when you have a corpate monopoly. YouTube has a functional monopoly for online content.

@2367J duplication of infrastructure isn't the answer it will only drive up cost and make content harder to find. We need to seriously start to look at information transportation the same way we do the transportation of any other goods in our society. It wouldn't make since to have multiple roads and power lines to everyone's property so we addressed the issue over a century ago and made public roads but allowed private companies to use them. We agreed we all need to pay for the mantaince of those roads as they are critically to a functional society. In our modern high tech world the same argument applies to the internet. Everyone needs basic access the same as with roads. It will still be the responsibility of private citizens to own their own computer or cellphone just as you need to provide your own car to drive on our roads but you don't expect to enter a town and see a road block with someone saying only cars manufactured by Chevy are allowed on this road because GM has a factory in town and funds this strech of road. We would all agree that is crazy. But in fact it is the type of behavior we are seeing service providers on the internet take and much like the roads you have no other choice based on your physical location or in the case of YouTube and Facebook you have little to no choice because the network has the audience you want to reach.
