@melanies5082 The current electoral college does support an independent running in the general election Ross Perot did just that in 92 he was the first candidate I voted for. He dropped out of the race early when he was starting to get some serious intrest behind him because of creditable death threats against his wife and kids.

@65minimom well here in my state there is an independent party and in Vermont senator Sanders runs as an independent. But my point was we need Bernie to run outside of the Democratic party so the DNC doesn't play the same game again we need a progressive party with candidates who have name recognition enough to make the party win. Bernie could do that now.
