Richard Wolff didn't mention that a for profit insurance company increases it profits by denying your benefits when you need them with denial of service notices. The government insurance doesn't work based on this same profit motive and isn't looking for a reason to not provide the payments when you need them

Time to invest those saving in an off grid solar system or an EV so you get a good return on your investment. A heat pump will also return nicely for you as our society suffers ff industry caused inflation.

The groups he is talking about have a pool of money as they are organizations providing insurance for their own members. Not the rugged individualism of the right wing but the social responsibility of the left where everyone works together for the betterment of all.

@jgalt308 funny how the same government you fearmonger about insolvency has 2 trillion dollars to spend modernizing nuclear weapons we have literally only ever dropped 2 of in war and that was almost a century ago. The same government spends over a trillion dollars a year on the military and gave over 6 billion dollars in weapons and support to Ukraine in the last year. Cleary the government in the USA can afford to do things that our elected officials feel is a priority. If you are so worried about the funding for the items you mentioned you need to think long and hard about why those are not a priority to the government before you vote in November.

@maxentirunos I know many EV owners who can clarify that situation for you because they have owned them for close to 10 years and never replaced the batteries. They also pay about 1/5 the cost per mile in fuel for the EV compared to the ICE they owned before it
