They have done very well. The same can be said of most of Asia they learned from H1N1 IIRC asia had a real awaking with that virus. Unfortunately the USA refuses to learn from others. I spent 18 months in Tiawan. No offense to that country some of the kindest people I have ever met live there. But when you look at how well they handled this pandemic and compare that to the USA it makes you disgusted with our society and our leadership. This pandemic has exposed the greed and selfishness of Americans. There is no reason on earth that we couldn't have handled this pandemic as well as countries in Asia we have more resources in the USA we chose to create this crisis.

@dennisamsden6374 you must be talking to the billionaires because they are the ones who got 3 trillion dollars from the trump administration in government welfare during the pandemic. The federal reserve has printed so much money and become the buyer of last resort that the stock market had hit record highs while 50 million Americans filed unemployment and 185,000 Americans died. This is what Republican welfare for the wealthy and rugged individualism for the working class looks like.

Gretchen Murray maybe there are anti trump Republicans voters but there is only one senator who can claim that title. The other Republican senators all put trump over the constitution we have the impeachment vote to prove it.

Funny to hear him talk you would think he would never get tested so he couldn't ever catch it. He keeps telling us you only have cases if you test.

@voodooutt that truly sucks. It was years ago I was there but 2 weeks of isolation would be about the entire time you are allowed in country on a passport without a visa. I was doing 3 weeks in Tiawan and a week out of Tiawan for the 18 months I was working with a company there. I feel your pain. But I did expect that your experience would be the case. It would be almost 15 years ago now that I was there and they had IR cameras checking everyone as they entered the country at the airport looking for anyone who had a fever. It seemed funny to me because beside the monitor for temperature the airport felt pre 911 to me. Security wasn't the crazy big brother system we have in the USA.

@voodooutt oh a lesson learned the hard way. Not that you could do it now anyway but if you ever fly out of Tiawan for a daytrip make sure you bring your boarding pass for your flight out of Tiawan with you. I made a daytrip to China once and had to buy a second ticket because Tiawan didn't allow non citizens to enter the country without a boarding pass to leave. I had left my belonging in the safety of the hotel safe for the day as I didn't think I needed a boarding pass for my flight home a week later.

Trump needs to follow Boris Johnson and lead by example getting covid himself. If everyone is going to get it eventually he might as well go first well next as 185,000 plus have already given their lives to trumps pandemic.

So trump has embraced 5 million Americans dieing because he has done nothing. That was the figure he kept toughening at the start to show how killing 185,000 wasn't that bad because if he did nothing they told him 5 million Americans would die.

@brianwalls6938 I don't wish them death but unlike them I do believe in science. 185,000 deaths in the last few months paints a very clear picture of what will happen when there is any large gathering before we have a vaccine.

@Rune-Thorne yup the rise of fascism follows a pattern for sure. I happened to have been fascinated with the fact that the world could decend onto war twice in such a short time that I studied the events leading to the second world war. Knowing what happened in the 30s makes current events all the more scary. The reality is the stage has been set for major crisis for the last half century as the inequality in our society has been constantly increasing and the tactics of blaming others with no power has been used to distract from the true class warfare.

@susimar half a century of class warfare driven by greed is how we got here. Income inequality today is greater then it was in the 1930s. Study history everytime the wealthy take too much of a society's resources for themselves there will be civial unrest. I highly recommend you study the rise of fascism in Nazi Germany and compare the situation there with the situation today. As people lost their jobs the people in power found others to scapegoat for the problems their policies causes. Peopaganda and fearmongering feeds on people's fear of losing what little they have left. There is a percentage of society looking for an authoritarian strong man leader to protect what they have which they can barley survive on. Our society has become infected with greed and selfishness. We worship capitalism which is a system designed to reward the greed and selfishness. The person who is willing to withhold life saving medications for the largest profit gets rewarded as the brilliant winner of our caplistist system. Instead of being criticized for withholding life saving treatments from people who can't afford their profiteering. Trump isn't the problem he is the symptom of a much deeper sickness in our society. Regardless of which party is in power you can depend on one thing the wealthiest people on earth will continue to get the most financial assistance from our government.
