Does this qualify as bipartisan response?

Yup I have said $600 is just enough money for many Americans to get bus fair to their homes or DC.

Maybe better Bill's but the house hasn't passed the same recurring payments that Canada and countries in Europe have passes. The house didn't pass Medicare for All during a pandemic when 10s of millions of Americans lost their employer healthcare along with their jobs. A one time payment of $2000 is better but incrementalism won't rise to the challenges we face today. Tell your landlord that you are going to pay your $5000 back rent with either a $600 or $2000 check so he can't evict you and let me know how well it works out. I am guessing the landlord and the bank will tell you both are inadequate to pay a $5000 debt.

BA DeCo one time payment of less than half what the avg American is behind on their housing cost when 1 in 3 Americans are worried about eviction in the middle of a global pandemic isn't good it is only slightly less bad.

@jonathangumra7083 the problem is in a two party system with legalize bribery it doesn't matter how you vote Bloomberg bought got them in both parties. Case in point neither the house or the Senate voted on Medicare for All during a pandemic but they both voted to give the equivalent of $32,000 per American citizen to the wealthy business owners who bought got them. Ask yourself would you be better off if the government had given you $32,000 per member of your household? Congress said NO you are better off giving that money to your boss instead because that is infact what they did. Until we end the bribery nothing will fundamentally change to quote the president elect.

@somethingdark66 more modern the yellow vests forced Macon to vacate the government building.

Tragically Comedic the BLM movement did this last summer we all need to join them in solidarity against our common oppressors.

@enrique4693 really proves you are wrong nothing the house passes stood a chance of passing in the Senate so stop hiding behind Mitch and stand up and fight him. When you allow the gop to set the terms you surrender before the battle begins.

@MrMeow-iq7kq I am right there with you my friend.

@thomas45081 actually I dont believe the government gives two shits about saving spending they run massive deficits for anything that benefits the wealthy. I have been wondering why any politician would be unable to clear the very low bar of actually giving money to their voters. Then it accured to me for decades the GOP has brainwashed their voters into believing that the government can't do anything to help them. If the government breaks that just once the working class will see they have been lied to for decades. Then the game is up the people will realize that government has been able to help them all along and has simply refused to do so because it benefits the owner class in our society to keep the working class desperate and willing to work 3 jobs simply to pay the rent. As Bush told a voter how uniquely American of you.

K. V.H. Macron evacuated from Paris theatre as protesters block exits over pension reforms https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/01/18/french-police-rescue-president-macron-theatre-crowd-furious/ Macron is scared of the yellow vests.
2
K. V.H. the citizens in France also dont have the same access to their own guns or a constitutional right to overthrow the government that we do have in atleast some state constitutions in the USA. Honestly from the photos of the police valance in france I would say that it is no less brave to put on a yellow vest in France then to join a BLM march in the USA. In both cases the police are meeting the protestors with the same chemical weapons.

Tragically Comedic start with what we all have in common the same oppressors we need out of power. Don't worry about step 100 when we are standing on step 1.

@enrique4693 starting a negotiation by asking for what you know the other party will accept is a guaranteed way to insure you don't get what you know you need or want.

@enrique4693 nope I see mitch McConnell as a bought tool of the military industrial complex. It is very simple you just refuse to see reality because you bought into the narrative that the military budget must pass with bipartisan support and that it can't be used as leverage against the gop. But the reality is that Raytheon and the other defense contractors would be in Mitch McConnell's office 30 seconds after the first failed vote to overturn the veto telling him that he has to pass that bill or he will no longer have his seat of power. That is what Mitch McConnell gives a shit about doing the bidding of those who paid him and his party. WTF is so hard for you to understand about that concept????

@MrMeow-iq7kq unfortunately it takes the over reaction of the government to peaceful protests to force reform. Look at the civial rights movement vs the civial war. The south took up arms and failed to overthrow the government and lost the moral high ground. MLK gave his life leading a peaceful movement which was met with disproportional response from the government and won major progress for his movement. The sad truth is we will only take power from the ruling class through showing how wrong they are with their response to peaceful action. I voted against trump in the election for the sole purpose of limiting the level of force used against protest from unidentified secret police kidnapping citizens off the street to simply the horrors we saw at standing rock. Because the weapons and response used at standing rock will grow grow sympathy from the greater population to our movement. The tactics used against BLM was following the model layed out in the darkest parts of Nazi Germany. I fear the cold hard truth is many of us will suffer in the comming years the only question is do we stand together and topple our shared oppressors or are we dissapeared under the cover of darkness by secret police.

@ObsidianLife You should finish the article on wikipedia because the import part isn't how the government initially responded but what happened after when people found out how the government handled the situation. A second, smaller Bonus March in 1933 at the start of the Roosevelt administration was defused in May with an offer of jobs with the Civilian Conservation Corps at Fort Hunt, Virginia, which most of the group accepted. Those who chose not to work for the CCC by the May 22 deadline were given transportation home.[2] In 1936, Congress overrode President Roosevelt's veto and paid the veterans their bonus nine years early. The reality is that the ruling class will not give up power willingly they will only do it in response to massive public outrage which is fueled by exposing how abusive the government is to its citizens. This is the history of peaceful protests the gains are won off the pain and suffering of those who have the least power. I fear we will have to put our bodies in harms way if we are to be the change we need.

@enrique4693 I would have gone on TV and told the media that sence Mitch McConnell didn't see a path to get the relief checks Americans desperately need during a global pandemic I didn't see a path to override president Trump's veto of the defense budget. Use the leverage President Trump gave you putting the interests of Mitch and the entire GOP parties donors against those of the American public which should be the primary interests of the Democratic party. Bernie Sanders tried to do that but Democratic leadership went against that idea because they have the same donors. So I guess I know something that Democratic leadership doesn't know which is if you accept bribery from the same groups you have to answer to the same special interest. But on second thought the centrist know that also it is why they have already given the equipment of $32,000 per every American citizens to the corporate owner class in pandemic response. Ask yourself what would have been the response of the public if one of the two political parties went on national TV and said the other party wants to give the equivalent of $32,000 per member of your household to the CEO and board of directors of your company. But we believe that money will do more for the economy and better address the needs of the public if we provide the same money to each American citizen over the next 12 months. That would have worked out to just over $2,666 per month per citizen of the United States. Because infact that is the amount of money Congress authorized before the last round of pandemic relief. I know which party i would have rallied behind if that choice was made public instead of allowing the Republican party to say we have to give that money to the business community that bought us but we can't afford to give it to the working class citizens who fund the government and vote for us.
1
@enrique4693 provide me a clip of Democratic leadership saying they passes $2666 per month to the American public for the next 12 months or that they would not override the veto of the defense budget until the senate voted on the $2000 you can't do it because it never happened either you didn't read and understand my posting or you are gaslighting me. Either way I don't appreciate your telling me I wasn't paying attention when you are the one who doesn't understand what Democratic leadership said and did. But please show me the bill that passed the house for monthly payments to Americans I will wait while you look it up to prove your point.
1
@enrique4693 you are intentionally missing the point Mitch McConnell desperately wanted to pass the defense budget. That was the leverage that trump handed the Democrats on a silver platter. You know the one thing Congress has to pass. If you wanted it force Mitch McConnell and the gop you refuse to override that veto. But I you are intentionally missing the point now because you have to know how leverage and negotiations work. The military industrial complex would have Mitch by the short hairs if they knew he was stopping the flow of cash to their investors.
