This is a crisis the Democratic party could have avoided in the lame duck session. In this case it required both parties to make this the crisis it is today.

@thesoundsmith you seem to have missed the point of my comment. There is no reason to have a debt ceiling crisis. The only reason it happens is because they pass a budget without also passing the appropriate amount of debt to fund the spending they voted for. Both parties do it to make the crisis it is completely avoidable and saying otherwise let's them off the hook for creating the crisis in the first place.
