Which is only 16 billion less than we need... 2 shots time 8 billion people. The only way to meet the demand is to end the patten monopoly and let the other country make their own. Give a man a fish and you feed him for today, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

I mean we only elected a president who claimed he knew how to negotiate and whose wife claims foreign policy is his strongest area. So sure there was nothing we the USA could do. 🤣🤣🤣

@beautrice1202 wow you are brainwashed by American exceptionalism. The vast majority of our vaccine was produced in India not the USA. They could produce much more if the law allowed them to. Your argument might have been true in 1921 but not in 2021 a century of outsourcing has ment we did teach the others how to make modern things

@matt1sullivan318 no asking political didn't work that isn't soft power that is throwing your hands up in the air. Also how many of these companies have the patterns in the USA? Because under the war powers act Biden can use any us patten. How many of these drug companies are currently receiving Grant's from the government? How many of these drug companies took pandemic loans from the government already? I see all kinds of ways that Biden could pressure the drug companies. That is before getting to things like simply announcing that he is signing an executive order to allow Medicare to negotiate drug companies. Late the courts fight that one out. Or simply use his emergency powers to extend Medicare for All for the remainder of the pandemic. Those are all ways off the top of my head to cost the drug companies money once you hit their ballance sheets hard enough they will listen. You could simply announce that the IRS and Congress are looking into stock options as being taxed as normal income. Or taxing the total compensation package of anyone making more than x dollar per year. You really lack creativity in how to make the wealthy CEO want to go along with the government.

@EdgelordOfEdginess because profit motives have no place in healthcare. And because so long as the product of the vaccine is limited we will never end the global pandemic. 57 years to vacillate the global population will be great for the drug companies but it will cause a global depression for everyone else. Also the governments paid in advance for the vaccine research and development so why should the company they hired get the profits the employees hired by the company didn't get to keep the profits.
