Funny how the building of ff infrastructure and the climate crisis are placed at opposite ends of the reporting. Almost like DW doesn't want you to think about how the new oil pipelines will become stranded assets as we transition to renewable energy. The world doesn't need to build any more ff resources to become stranded assets that is just wasting resources and money.

@schlafcomandanten 🤣🤣🤣🤣 the last century we depended on only ff so clearly one source isn't really the problem. Besides last time I checked renewable energy came from many sources. Wind, solar hydro, tidal power geothermal just to name a few off the top of my head. If the sun burns out or the tide stops comming in we will have much bigger problems as a species than the power grid being down. But if we continue to burn ff we are forcing the 6th mass extinction event. Ask your nearest dinosaur how it works out living through extinction events. I will wait why you find a T Rex so along as you remain silent while you search.

@schlafcomandanten you should stop using gas if you are worried about cobalt. The oil industry is the worlds largest consumer of cobalt. As to mining being harmful to the environment that must be why you are apposed to those coal mines correct? Or the tar sands and fracking wells? The ff industry has done far more harm to the environment than anything else.

@schlafcomandanten oh good news for you in the last few decades we made the investment in innovation. We already know how to make solar panels I know because I own an off grid solar system. We know how to make storage again I know I have the batteries in my basement. We know how to make an EV Tesla has already made half a million of them and counting. We know how to make offshore and on shore wind turbines. So all that is left is implementing the solution we innovated already over the last few decades. We also know how to heat with geothermal energy the Roman's actually figured that one out long before either of us where born.

@schlafcomandanten so you think ff is bad but you are ok with investing billions of euros into infrastructure for the ff industry which will lock them in place in the energy sector for the next half century. Interesting.

@schlafcomandanten are you purposely trying to miss the point? You would rather i pointed out that BYD has built hundreds of thousands of electric Buses? The point is the same that the EV is proven technology that will over the next 5 to 10 years replace the ff industry in transportation. WV has said as much in Germany. I could care less who builds the next generation of EVs the point is simply that BYD and Tesla have proven it is technically possible and profitable.

@schlafcomandanten oh and as to the live by personal example argument I walk to work everyday as I work at home on a small family farm powered by solar panels. So congrats on giving up your car 12 years ago I hope you are pushing your public transportation sector to use renewable energy to power those busses you ride. The reality is we can't solve a society wide problem through individual actions alone. If we could have the hippies would have put the ff industry out of business half a century ago.
