@anotherdeejay it all adds up to it being time to go renewable energy and electric for everything. It is certain that my solar panels and batteries will make power.

@anubizz3 no everyone needs to work together to get 100% renewable energy and grid scale storage. I don't live in the UK I live in the USA and left the power grid not because I am wealthy I am a peasant farmer who saves money being off the grid because the power grid was twice the cost of owning my own solar system. My system pays for itself in 9 years and has a 25 year warranty. That said I am more than willing to stand beside anyone who is still on the grid as they fight to get the power company to install the least expensive form of new energy generation being wind and solar. At the moment everyone owning an ICE is 100% held hostage by the ff industry. The way to find freedom from that is an EV because their are many way to produce electricity. So no it doesn't make people hostage to the grid they are already hostage to the barrons of the ff industry. EV gives you an option the power grid can be powered by different resources and is far more stable than the ff industry. Or you can leave the grid and make your own electricity you can't make your own gas.

@flyinghigh2000 all I see there is more reasons to become more energy independence with renewable energy and EV.

@flyinghigh2000 they need to add liquid air storage to their wind farms that will allow for storring the energy on site and pumping it out when the wind is low on the same grid. The biggest thing we can do without any grid upgrades is match demand to supply which EV with V2G technology and grid scale storage would both help do. There is a video about the pilot plant for liquid air storage on the just have a think YouTube channel. I mention it because it uses all proven technologies and is very easy to scale up.
