  8. The same reason our ancestors expanded education from 8th grade to 12th grade a century ago. Because we live in a society that recognizes the obligation of society to provide the same opportunity and education needed to all members in order to have the skilled workforce and functional society. Our ancestors realized that the skills needed to work in our society had advanced 100 years ago as we now need to accept today. I dont have kids but I understand that the youth needs more skills than they get in 12 years to function in our society.

  11.  @xq8152  in the first bill it was expanded temporarily in 2020 I don't know the percentage as I don't have kids. In the second covid bill they made monthly payments so it is two different times that they played with the child tax credit. The second time it was your annual tax credit paid monthly which will probably end people up with a tax bill same as when trump ended payroll deductions but didn't end the tax. Because people are probably having deduction taken out bases on the child tax credit that won't be there at the end of the year when they pay their taxes. But like I said not having kids I didn't keep track of the details
