  1. Not really how it works. The same payback would be true of any debt in collection. The hospital sold the debt to the company RIP medical debt for even less when it went into collection. This is just what RIP Took for the debt after it was sold to the debt collector

  2. ​ @FNLNFNLN the fractional reserve allows money to be loaned into creation by the banks. Debt is literally how the monetary system grows. But that also means most debt like car loans or home loans was never real assets the bank owned they literally make 90% of the loan value up at the time of the loan. Fiat currency means there isn't a real world asset backing the money and yes it is arbitrary
