  4.  @eriklakeland3857  but once you build the renewable energy infrastructure you dont need to keep fighting wars for your daily energy needs. I have solar panels so every day my electricity comes from the sun not some ff shipments. If we has transitioned to renewable energy at the start of the oil wars 2 decades ago we would have spend maybe a decade transitioning and them we would have the infrastructure in place and the need for war would be over. As to lithium it is in the top 10 elements on earth. Tesla gets the lithium for their batteries from mining in Nevada and has plans to recycle their batteries at end of life much the same as how lead acid batteries are recycled making it not necessary to have massive lead mines today. Also we can extract lithium from ocean water and geothermal heating wells there are two geothermal energy plants I know of off the top of my head that are working on lithium extraction now that there is a demand for lithium. In the 1990s I was working on a solar car race team and meeting with battery designers from different companies one of them had a lithium battery we wanted to test and we asked them about supply and the cost. His comment back then was lithium is one of the most abundant elements on earth the cost is high because we have two markets the medical community buys a very tinny amount for treating bipolar disorder and the military buys a small amount for classified usage. But they where positive that as the demand went up the supply would ramp to match. Also there are other batteries better suited for non transportation storage. So no we don't need to fight wars for energy we just seem to believe the ff industry is correct and that our sons and daughters need to die so we can have cheap fuel to drive our SUV.
