@robert9561 it is the job of politicians to represent the voters. They don't do that by pledging to veto legislation that 90% of their own party voters support and 70% of all Americans support.

@alexd4566 you do realize that Biden told his donors nothing will fundamentally change during his presidency so he will also let the ff industry continue to burn the planet. We know what 8 years of Obama Biden all of the above energy policy got us Trump using the same all of the above energy talking points. So sorry but Biden has a track record of a decade delaying the renewable energy revolution. We are screwed either way on climate change and largely because the neoliberals wasted the last 8 years they had the presidency with incrementalism. Obama and Biden gave us the fracking boom their environmental legacy is all the methane leaking fracked gas wells.

@FidelCattto I agree with you in all but one aspect. We need to vote 3rd party not stay home when the candidates refuse to earn our vote. If only half of the non voters did this the 3rd party candidate could win. Literally half of all Americans refuse to vote which means only 1 in 4 Americans actually vote for the president. We only need 1 in 4 Americans to vote 3rd party to actually win. But if we could even get something like 1 in 10 non voters back to the polls voting 3rd party the other two parties would see that they lost power by exnoring the people who typically don't vote. 2016 was the first election cycle where I didn't vote because I thought it would send a message to the Democrats if they lost to trump or even if there was low voter turnout. The reverse has been proven true the neoliberals have doubled down on all the things people didn't like about the last party platform. The answer is vote 3rd party and fight for rank choice voting in all 50 states. The one thing both parties agree on is that they hate rank choice voting. I am hoping that it gives us a independent senator in Maine this cycle as it will free people from voting for the Democratic party candidate simply because Susan Collins is a greater evil. Instead the citizens can vote first for the candidate who will fight for their values second for a candidate who will fight for their values and third vote against Susan Collins. Because there are 2 independent candidates who are in my opinion better choices then the two parties because the independents are giving the voters something to vote for not against.

@robert9561 Biden won the primary on the media calling him the most electable and trump needing to be voted out of office that isn't an endorsement of his policies it is the lesser of 2 evils argument. So no when you run your primary campaign about how bad trump is you are making a lesser of 2 evils choice. Just because you happen to be a centrist corporatist doesn't mean that everyone who voted Biden was. If that was the case we wouldn't have people voter shaming and talking about how trump is a threat we would have people talking about the policies Biden is for not the evil trump will do in 4 years. So you are flat out wrong to say the Biden campaign isn't the lesser of 2 evils. Because in every single debate the point was made that trump must be defeated. That is by definition saying anything is less evil.

@robert9561 getting people to vote for you because you are most electable and the other party is evil is not representing the voters. Representing the voters means you fight for the policies they want not that you only break one leg instead of both legs. Choosing the lesser of 2 evils is admiting that you don't believe either choice will actually be good and fight for what you want. Thus you already know that the lesser of two evils is not representing the voters.

@DarkApe117 the vast majority of voters in the usa believe the fight is over once they cast their vote. From a quick Google search Around 138 million Americans voted in the 2016 presidential election. We have never had 138 million Americans march in a protest or call their elected representatives on any single issue so clearly the vast majority of voters do think that casting their ballot is the end of their responsibility.

No Dogma Mama Biden didn't go anywhere he has alway been proud of his ability to work with the Republicans. Besides vetoing policy that 90% of all Democratic voters and 70% of all voters want isn't a good political move to get votes. Unless you believe those are the percentage of the progressives who you think he is running away from.

@pedroroma933 for started we are trying to get Biden to see he needs to earn our vote not simply give him our support and get nothing in return. Telling him that vetoing policy that the overwhelming majority of Americans want is unacceptable. What is your strategy to fall in line and let the corporate Democrats see that their leaving you no alternative is a successful tactic? I am also working with groups to get rank choice voting and supporting 3rd party candidates because we need an alternative to the left of the DNC if we want to pull the party left. Without that will continue to see the DNC move right taking the left for granted as they have no where else to go. The entire shift to the right by the DNC over the last 40 years is because the voters on the right have an alternative in order to get power back we need to make the same true about the left. We need to make Biden and the DNC fear that they will lose to canadates on the left if we ever hope to move them back to the platform of the Democratic party before the 80s.

@robert9561 you are making a bogus assumption about the Democratic voters. If you look at the actual polling on the issues you will see the majority of the Democratic voters are infact progressives. That doesn't make people centrists it only proves that you can get people to vote against their values.

People don't do this because they vote and trust the government to run on automatic. They don't bother contacting their officials because it isn't that important to them not worth the effort. No Dogma Mama Hillary Clinton lost her own election against the worse presidential candidate in decades. If the centrist corporatist candidates can't count on progressives to suck it up and vote for politicians who will put the donors before the voters maybe that is something you should think long and hard about. Don't blame the voters for wanting perspectives who will fight for the policies they voters overwhelmingly want. 90% of Democratic voters want policy and you say that the corporatist are correct to put the bribery from the health insurance companies over the will of the people. You clearly don't want to have a government of by and for the people you want to live in a plutocracy where those with the money get to run the government.

@CarbonAtom14 the Democratic that had the alternative to take their votes away from the Democratic party and give them to a more right wing party is the one which has pulled the democratic party to be the Republican party of the 80s. And allowed the Republicans to become the far right extremists we have today. The answer to that is a party in the left that can put the same pressure on the politicians in the USA by providing a real left alternative to the corporatist center right wing party. But we need to fight for rank choice voting as well to break the cycle of lesser of 2 evils that has moved the Democratic party from the party of FDR to the party of Biden a man proud of his ability to give racist Republicans what they want in negotiations including making the tax cuts that Bush could only make temporary permanent. So buckle up for Biden and Haris to make the trump tax cuts permanent just like Mitch McConnell wants.

If you really wanted to get trump out of office you would pressure Biden to support Medicare for All and since 70% of all Americans want it.
