That is a direct result of the trump administration removing the EPA emmisions regulations and renegotiating NAFTA. You can't objective blame the closure of the Lordstown Ohio plant on the Democratic party when it happened in the 3rd year of the trump presidency. After he negotiated the new USMCA agreement. The reality is by lowering emissions standards for vehicles sold in the USA trump made it more profitable to close the plant making the Chevy Volt and to make higher profit Chevy Blazers in Mexico. That is 100% the fault of the current administration. As to the green new deal. You are factually wrong on the cost of renewable energy. Today the cheapest forms of new energy generation are wind and solar. I am in the process of going off grid myself with solar because the system has a 25 year warranty and will pay for itself in 9 years based on my current electricity bill. The green new deal will end our dependency on the ff industry which is the only way to end the forever oil wars started by W Bush in the middle east. The only way out of that war now is to end the demand for the one thing of value in the region that is oil. But most importantly the green new deal is American jobs. It is the single largest domestic jobs program since the orginal new deal which helped this nation recover fron the great depression. Today solar alone employs over 200,000 Americans as apposed to less then 50,000 in the coal industry trump wants to defend and claimed he would bring back. Those jobs have already gone what we need now is a program to help those people retrain to the jobs of the new economy. That is what the green new deal is. It is a plan to help the working class transition away from the old into the new. Unlike the current administration which just declared the war on coal over and left unemployed coal miners high and dry protesting by blocking the last train load of coal they loaded for a bankrupt coal mine which refuses to pay them for the labor to fill that train. The owner who is building a resort community wanted to take the revenue from that coal for himself and the share holders not the workers. Bernie Sanders is the one who stood up for those protesting coal miners not Donald Trump or Mitch McConnell. There was no comment or support from the gop for the miners. That is the truth of who is for the working class and who is for the wealthy owners of corporations. For the record Bernie Sanders voted against NAFTA.
