$45 per hour is $90,000 per year would definitely be good paying. The median income today is $33,000 annually which is definitely too low.

But but the parliamentarian.....

@doctorcrypto3048 really aren't most households single income? $33,000 comes out to $16.50 per hour. If you want to say that is 2 people ok but it just make the point that $45 would be a huge improvement in the quality of life even more obvious

Yup a year ago before we has 6% inflation I believe the actually wage adjusted for inflation from the 60s or 70s when they figured a single income would actually support a family was calculated to be $22 per hour today. Which shows you how much buying power the minimum wage has lost in the last half century. Given our current inflation they would need to pass $30 for it to achieve a living wage. I say 30 because it will take too long to pass if they write the bill today.

@douglashogg4848 yup I would close that loophole. It is insulting to me that the restaurant depends on me to pay their staff after I pay them. I rarely eat out partly because I can't stand that messed up standard in our society. If you have a business that can't afford to pay a living wage you don't have a business worth running.

Only in that it would free up the labor force to fight for better wages. The company's would never pass the cost saving onto the working class voluntary.

@billyboy1093 check out the people quiting by text threads in the USA. The reason the caplistist want to keep healthcare linked to your job is to have leverage. The bosses repeatedly use it when people say they want to quite.

$90,000 per year plus benefits you should be able to buy a decent home not just a small one.

@DimaRakesah I hear you there. I like small and cozy. Just hit me funny that the party that couldn't pass $30,000 because of the parliamentarian wants you to have $90,000 plus benefits.

@RealShaktimaan why profitable is not linked to inflation it is linked to the productivity of the labor force. Seem only fair to link the compensation for the labor force to the profitable of that same labor force.

@RealShaktimaan I bet it doesn't raise 6% this year to match the inflation we have this year. Meaning they legislation you love doesn't actually fixed the underlying problem

Value added tax is paid by the consumer in the cost of the goods you buy. This makes it a regressive tax. Using that for UBI funding actually transfers wealth upward as the poor will pay a bigger percentage of their wealth in VAT than the wealthy and everyone gets the same UBI payments or there are not universal. This was a con played on you by the caplistist class. You must fund a UBI with a wealthy tax if you want to actually close the inequality gap.

But for the parliamentarian Joe would have gotten us those good wages. /s

You will wait atleast 40 more before they act on it. Them maybe you will get $15

I today's dollars the minimum wage from the 60s would be $22 so tell me do you think the working class has seen prices decline or their buying power decline in the last half century as the minimum wage is now worth about 1/3 what it was half a century ago.

@markgamolka1045 Do you want to trade all the gold in fort Knox on December 31st to ballance our national debt? Because under the gold standard all national debt must be balanced by trading physical gold to the country holding the debt. I am sure China would love to take you up on that proposal.

@michaeld4861 I was thinking with the modern divorce rates I know too many single parent households to count

There is a really quick and dirty trick to do that. Double the hourly rate it is the thousands per year
