The technology transfer was an issue in the 90s and early 2000s now we have already given away the technology. China already has the skills and training to make their own advances. We need to focus on how we transition off ff and into an electric future.

People figured out working 20 hours a week at Walmart might count as employment for the government department of labor but it won't pay your bills.

tad562 well the companies can afford it Trump cut their taxes more. I don't give this administration any credit for a plan it is simply yelling and screaming to make some more fear mongering for the base. Sorry but having been an engineer who watched upper management exnore the advice of the VP of engineering and the entire engineering staff and outsource our technology to China in the quest of profits I have zero sympathy left for the corporations who spend the last half century outsourcing their technology. Their short term quest for profits was too great to protect their long term interests even when fully I informed of the cost. That puts the blame squarely on the hands of upper management and multinational corporations.

Infact most of the engineers probably told upper management in no uncertain terms what they where giving away. I saw this first hand as an engineer.

tad562 actually tarrifs just allow companies in your own country to raise the cost of goods and not be undercut by a foreign country with lower costs. In theory they are not bad it forces the other countries to either raise their wages or lose the ecominic benefit of lower wages. The system is broken because the companies in the USA will infact raise the prices but keep the excess in profits. Our loss of manufacturing jobs has nothing to do with competition and everything to do with outsourcing for profit and greed. If tarrifs had been used effectively the money would flow back into the economy to boost our employment and manufacturing base but as it is all we see is more cost pushed onto an already stressed lower class. The middle class is already gone. As Warren Buffett said it is class warfare and his class is winning.
