If Congress used the same voting system that we used to elect them we would have a speaker of the house in a single round of voting. Rank choice voting would reach a majority in a single round of voting. Clearly the current system is broken and we need a new one.

Biden should be signing executive orders while the GOP proves how they can't even choose a leader. If anyone questions the ussage of executive orders simply tell them the house has the authority to investigate them.

The GOP members of the house are more than welcome to vote for the member who is closest to the majority vote. But I suspect they won't

@hizzlemobizzle less members of the GOP would need to provide bipartisan support to get the democratic speaker than Democrats at the moment to get a GOP speaker. The Democratic nominee has the most votes.

@hizzlemobizzle no the person who gets the majority of votes get the speaker position. It is just that historically the members of Congress refuse to cross party lines. You should study the constitution. The speaker doesn't even have to be a member of Congress by the constitution. It could literally be any random citizen who gets the majority of members of the house to vote for them as speaker.

@hizzlemobizzle both parties choose their leader but that has noting to do with the speaker. Go to the breaking points channel they are discussing this right now in detail.
