  1.  @DominiqueB  D and T often swap out for one another. Any word with either will be pronounced with the other somewhere or when. The most common pronounciation of Machester United on BBC sports broadcasts is "Machester Unydid". The German for Daughter is Tochter for instance, same root but a different pronounciation.

  5. An American who can think. Shouldn't that be illegal? The pasta thing? I do that too, and for the same reason. I'd be doubly annoyed over the average English person if I came to America. Mind you, as you might guess, I have a lot more reasons for finding the US and USAians annoying. :-) Some decades ago we switched from 240V to 230V to be in line with the EUrine. There was a distinct increase in the time it took to bring an electric kettle to the boil. I've no idea what is going on there, but I timed it and it was so. A microwave oven ruins the taste of the tea somewhat. Still infinitely preferable to coffee, mind.
