The grill can be made to look “less offensive” if it bothers actual buyers not the irrelevant keyboard squealers. This is a really good car.

Great video Howard, excellent car. My E91 320D Sport Plus Touring has had a remap to around 210bhp and 440nm. Fuel economy is improved (by about 4mpg at 70mph), throttle response is massively improved, no more turbo lag and, obviously, performance. The car recently had it's MOT and I asked about emissions and the tester said it was well within parameters so......... BMW could easily have given the 20D more power and still complied with all the nanny state BS.

Plug it in overnight where exactly? I can’t run a cable from an open window, across a communal lawn out to an EV parked on the side of the road overnight. 90% of us simply cannot charge a car overnight because: we live in a flat or park a car on the road etc. If you’re only using your Model 3 for say, 30 mile daily commutes, sitting at a supercharger for an hour once a week is 👌 👍 but it IS, for the majority of people, still an inconvenience to run an EV. That’s just a fact. If I had a home with off street parking, preferably a garage, I’d be all over a Model 3 like herpes on a… well you know 😂 right now no EV could replace my bought and paid for economical diesel estate. 60mpg, 800 miles of range. Why would I put myself in debt to buy and a run car that I have to alter my lifestyle for?

It's real world range of under 200 miles and the difficulty in finding decent charging points just isn't good enough in a world where an ICE car driver can refuel practically anywhere and in a fraction of the time, getting more than 2 or 3 times the range of the average EV. I like this car though, but it's not a "one car solution", it's a second car.

You are aware the Rolls Royce Spectre exists eh? 😁 oh so it’s about £450k… about three weeks worth of groceries.

It still doesn't have enough range for a "one car family". It's nice enough, but it exists in a world where the infrastructure and convenience of owning is not even in the same galaxy as owning an ICE car. Tesla are getting there with the range and fast charging and I think their 100D replacement is going to be pretty damned impressive (for EV) as far as range goes.

The Passat may be "boring" but we live in the reral world where 99% of us need practical, economical cars not hoonmobiles. Great video Howard.

Good stuff Howard, the new C class is a certainly a very attractive proposition. However I don't think it will tempt many BMW owners unless they aren't prepared to wait for the new G20 3 series (Touring). Oh and the Harmon Kardon sound system is the mid range system for the 5 and 7 series. The premium Bowers and Wilkens Diamond Surround Sound system is more than a match for the Burmeister system in the Merc. Cheers

@scoopermg8226 Crawl out of Greta's butt. No one cares.

@haki3353 Yeah, he's a wanker who thinks his delusions and bullying can change hearts and minds.

Awesome review :) Not sure why you're comparing a 2 + 1 turbo charged V8 diesel to a naturally aspirated Lambo v12, but but I like it :)

Roger Bailey how’s the boot space and range on that Roger? I’ll tell you; both are crap. E-hybrid is no substitute yet. Maybe around town and for short to medium commutes but that’s all.

They come standard with run flats as far as I can tell from the BMW website (edit. They come as standard with normal tryres with certain packages and or/wheel sizes). The 4 series has had a very recent facelift so maybe they have addressed interior noise. Much is said about the new 5 series and how quiet it is, but I drove one a few months back and it was no quieter than my E91 3 series. Both on run flats.

Great to see you here HR! The 4 series has had a very recent refresh or facelift, if you prefer. It can be turned into a fairly opulent techfest if you're prepared to tick all the options. The 435D, for eg, starts at £47280 but if I spec one up as if I were buying it for myself.. well that's £60105 on the road.... but that has adaptive suspension, apple car play, M sport plus package etc.

Great review as always Howard. I test drove a G30 520D M Sport ( S drive) back at the launch event in April and I was absolutely blown away by the interior (in comparison to my E91 320D Sport Plus Touring). The demonstrator had every option possible, apart from the sun roof. In June I spoke to a BMW guy and he said they'd heard nothing about a 535/540D or a 550D coming to the UK. We often don't get certain variants and it looks like that trend is set to continue. They'll get a 550D Touring in Europe, the new M140i will have XD as an option in Europe, but here, no. We didn't even get the M550i here, which I'm sure peeved many potential buyers.

Ahem … Rolls Royce Spectre. Quite clearly the most luxurious EV. Money no object sort of thing…

Chatta290 the 5 series is ageing already. Compare the tech and interior design. The new 3 is more modern just slightly smaller. I’m sure they’ll facelift the 5 series soon, along with the 6GT, to bring them up to date.
