  1. Wouldn't disabling cell data work the same as disabling an e-SIM even if there was no option to disable e-sim? Or at least on a custom OS? I guess you're arguing that the stuff would be running on the baseband modem so regardless of what is running on the main system, there would be no guarantee of control over it? Wouldn't that problem then exist even for non-eSIM devices without a SIM card (they can still connect to cell towers, ex. for 911 calls), or e-SIM-supporting devices that supposedly aren't using e-SIM? so it doesn't really seem like a valid argument.

  2. That's only for the stock OS I assume though. Could still disable that by using it with another OS like CalyxOS or DivestOS.
