What I hate is how Google knows exactly where I live due to people with poor privacy practices using the same wi-fi as me (and I suspect that it's also why my non-Google search results like DDG and Startpage (I know Startpage is just a Google search proxy, but it's a proxy nonetheless) are somehow localized to my location as well). Yes if I had been using a VPN that wouldn't be an issue; it's one of the lesser known privacy benefits of having a VPN.
