  12.  @jlupus8804  Different illnesses or conditions would have different criteria. I am not a medical professional so can't speak to every specific case. Private healthcare wouldn't have been able to do anything. This is the point of his case. He was not like a coma patient for example, where medically there is a minute chance he could wake up at an undetermined point further down the line. Every doctor who examined his case agreed that irreparable damage had been done to his brain and there was zero chance of recovery. Any "life support",any treatment being given to him was done so to ease any pain he was in, and literally keep him alive. There was no chance of slowing any decay or curing him in any way, the damage was already done. "the fact that it is not, at least for most countries, able to help everyone and is often rationed." What is your evidence for this exactly? That is just not true, and if I can speak frankly, sounds simply like one of the examples of misinformation created by the opponents of universal healthcare, intended to scare people. That's made even worse when the reality in the U.S is that those with pre-existing health conditions are often denied insurance, or charged insane rates, because the insurance company thinks they will lose too much money covering them. That would include older people whose old age puts them at higher risk of claiming on their health insurance. You already have the problem in the U.S that you are suggesting other nations may have.
