  1. How does that explain 5000 years of no progress? Other parts of the world -- Europe, India, China, Russia and later the US -- all had serious painting, music, literature, science, archipecture, engineering...Africa -- never. So its not just corruption.

  2.  @marlonmoncrieffe0728  I read the book years ago. I don't find it convincing. Remember that the colonial governments created most of the infrastructure they have today, and even than, when they left, all of it fell apart. I think its a clear culture, values issue with probably some cognitive capacity thrown in. Africa is saturated with natural resources.

  5. Engineering doesn't require topography. Neither do chemistry, physica, electronics, botany, pharmaceuticals, ertc. That's no excuse, not close.

  8.  @TheThinker434  Persia had serious art and architecture, and some rudimentary science and math, thousands of years go. Islam had beautiful architecture for a few hundred years. Sicne then, Islam has produced nothing of consequence. Even its oil was found and developed by the British, French and Americans.

  10.  @NdifonNtui  I was speaking in comparative terms. Obviously, there are forms, on some level, of many of these indicia. But seriously, nothing of scientific, medical, architectural or commercial significance comes from the 1 billion residents of Africa, including the Maghreb. YouTube comments are not good fora for detailed debate, but that was my point.

  11.  @marlonmoncrieffe0728  Those were factors, but hardly explain that no serious medicine, medical devices, engineering, architecture or hundreds of other fields on endeavor comes from Africa (or South America or the Muslim world post-Persia, for that matter.

  13.  @Dennis-nc3vw Well, before the printing press, literature was itself limited. But the Bibles and Koran were forms of literature, and there was a great deal of written scrolls from the Hebrews, etc.
