  2. Curiously, the Nazis were so intent on murdering Jews that they did proportionately less damage to small villages than the Russians are doing here. Obviously there is zero of military consequence in these small places. Its a pure strategy of murder for military gain. When the US did much much worse in WWII in Europe (we killed 2 million German civilians intentionally) it was to push back at least, not to take territory. Death nonetheless, but with a different purpose.
