  2. there is no evidence silk trade ever "ended" with China after the Turks took Constantinople. even Mongols enjoyed silk, and gifted and traded it all across their empire. Chinese silks were reaching Islamic Spain and Morocco---sometimes with difficulty---but generally uninteruptedly until modern times, when "western" silks became the far cheaper alternative.
