  2. Heh. It's not just loan words (not "loanwords"), though. There are words modified to fit foreign grammar more naturally. This was done particularly with Latin and Greek suffixes and prefixes.

  4. I would say 500 year old English is legible. The vocabulary is weird and the grammar is odd, but it's there. 600 years, different language though.
