I went to school in the 90s and we got a hot entree on one side, then fruit on the other, and a vegetable compartment, a pint of milk and a "dessert" item like an apple or orange, or even a cookie. Later in my tenure they started getting uppity about nutrition. Rolls became whole wheat rolls, perfect for the trash can. 2% milk became unhealthy, so only 1% milk was allowed. It was a busy time for the trash cans. I just didn't eat.
