  1. Nem33 Perhaps the commonality of Spanish reflects many recent immigrants, then. I don't assume they have no impact on culture, and I don't see why you do. This immigration will continue for the forseeable future, even with the economy as it is.

  2. Nem33  Language is a part of culture. My hypothesis is that if enough Hispanics immigrate and enough shall we say, commercial appeals to Spanish speaking people persists, so too will Spanish persist beyond this initial immigration phase. I find it difficult to compare 19th century immigration, and concurrent English immigration to today's patterns.
