  1. Pre covid, some of the big name Island resorts could be expensive. But now there's cheaper deals to The Whitsundays I believe. Not sure about Hayman island though. My sister and her husband went up to FNQ just before Christmas, they stayed in Airlie Beach, took day trips to places like Whitehaven beach, Hamilton Island, did Great barrier reef cruise etc. It's much cheaper to stay there. They got a good deal. And Cairns is a good base for The Daintree and Kuranda rail, and reef day cruises trips. Yes it's very cheap to go to Bali for example. Sure. And many people love going there. But cheaper isn't always better. It depends on what things you're looking for or are important to you in a holiday destination. I'd personally choose Far North Queensland or Hawaii over Bali. I loved Hawaii too. Vietnam and Thailand you can get good deals from Australia too.
