  1. Lived in Australia my whole life and never even come close to a snake bite thankfully. And seen maybe 4 in the wild in my entire life(outside of zoos). One from distance during a bush/trails walk in the blue mountains. And 2-3 when growing up, in my grandparents back yard in South East Queensland. They had bushland behind their home at the time. One was a dead(thankfully) brown snake. Something had got to it. And the other was carpet python, which is not venomous. Oh and a green tree snake which is harmless. But even those experiences were limited to being in or around bushland at the time. Living near the city in Sydney for 15 years never saw any. (You will see warning signs for snakes if you go on some trail walks). And have not seen any since being back in North Brisbane the last year either. It just isn't the common thing it's made out to be in the media or online. Certainly not if you're living in coastal suburbs near or around cities. Obviously out in regional bushland areas is a bit different.
