Great to see youreact to Ashleigh Faye 😊. Been following her journey for a long time. Shes a marine biologist who moved to Tasmania 2 years ago to complete her masters (fur seals.) She's just got her dream job in Melbourne, so she's moving there this weekend. I've got to know her a bit, chatting on SM. She's lovely. She a big coffee lover. Does content about that as well as her travels around Aus/overseas. I agree with you about the tipping. It's out of hand. Seems like everyone has their hand out and even if they don't provide good service... still feel entitled to your money? I remember some used to try and justify saying it encourages better service by making staff rely on tips. Nope. My experience years ago in LA and Hawaii did not back that up. And by sounds of it, it's only got worse. The idea of having to tip for "service ' when you have to clear your own tables is crazy to me. Setting aside the tips and poor wages... I think part of it is also the cafe culture in Australia. It's often about the experience and social interaction. (Less grab and go unless you're on your way to work or in a hurry). So staff being rude or disinterested is not going to fly. We're spoiled for choice with so many cafes and coffee shops that if you do encounter rude service, you won't go back. You'll go elsewhere. And the cafe owners/managers know that. Have you ever thought about having Ashleigh, Kaitlyn or any expats on for a collab/chat sometime?

Ashleigh is talking about cafes and coffee shops though. Not McDonald's etc. And no you don't buss your own tables at cafes in Australia. Certainly none I've ever been to and I've lived in 3 states and visites every state and territory aside from the NT.

Food and coffee prices in the US already gone up though. The idea that food is always cheaper than Australia is false. Even years ago when I visited Hawaii and LA I didn't find the food to be much cheaper even not factoring in tips. Ashleigh was saying the most she's ever paid for cofees anywhere was on the recent trip to the US. I think $9 USD each!.(so $13.80aud- had to edit my comment as I accidentally originally write 9 AUD instead of USD) Even with cofees going up in Australia the last couple yrs (used to be$4.50) I pay 5.50-6 on average for coffee I. Most places. Most I've ever paid is 7 and that was with a milk alternative. I'd never pay more than that. Getting ridiculous.

Ian is still young enough to qualify for a working holiday visa too, come over for a year. I know quite a few creators on here come over as digital nomads and filming content as their work. I can't think of better ambassadors for Tourism Australia than Ian and his family or any of the individual state tourism offices. Ashleigh, the womsn in thisvideo, recently went on a trip to Canberra all paid for by visit Canberra. She's also done some trips around Tas. Ian needs to cknne t with some tourism offices or tour/hospitality companies and get some sponsorship happening. Or even an off roading or RV company.
