I don't recall much about outback learning as such in school. But we did learn basic first aid and tips in regards to snake bikes and dehydration/heat stroke etc . Its compulsory to learn how to swim in primary school (grade school/before highschool). It's part of the curriculum. We have an outdoorsy lifestyle, we're surrounded by water and many homes have pools. I think basic water safety(like what to do in a rip or current, how to help someone if they're drowning, CPR etc was addressed too, if I recall. Long time ago! Many Kids in that age group would participate in junior life saving (lifeguard) programs on the weekend or school holidays. Yes the sun is hotter here. As the earth's orbit brings us closer to the sun, in summer. So the UV radiation is about 7% stronger down here. In summer especially, It's good to check the UV index before leaving home. And if it's high to extreme, adjust your sun protection methods or plans accordingly.😎
