  1. Yeah tornadoes are rarer here. We do get really bad cyclones though that do a lot of damage. Look those up some day! ⛈️🌀🌪️ Earthquakes of that size last week are quite rare too. Ones that hit populated areas that is. Australia sits on top of a stable geologically old, continental landmass. It's in the middle of a tectonic plate with no major active faults. So much fewer quakes than areas near plate boundaries or fault lines. New Zealand gets a lot more. And Japan. And of course the US.
