@nawaz345 A straw man fallacy (sometimes written as strawman) is the informal fallacy of refuting an argument different from the one actually under discussion, while not recognizing or acknowledging the distinction. The original poster said they didn't think it's wrong for British people to want the country to want their country to remain as it was, with mostly British population. And suggested no one would object to that same sentinent in a different ethnicity/nationality. You have then responded as if they had suggested mass deportation or some other totalitarian measure to remove other ethnicities instead of responding to what they actually said.

YES - we need to look at antisemitism in muslim populations. In fact, it probably is time for a few episodes exploring antisemitism

@nawaz345 that's strawmanning what they said. Respond to what they actually said

@tro1239 I like your answer but I work in universities & they are batshit at the moment & they do indoctrinate in batshittery. There is a political monoculture & a chilling effect in having to be very careful about what you say & who you say it to

@tombassman interesting! My position is that EDI are modern day witch-hunters as they need to find racism/other isms to justify their salaries. So effectively a parasite industry. In my personal experience EDI don't even understand the Equality Act & prioritise preferred groups over others & don't even do the things they are literally employed to do. Msybe it doesn't have to be that way & the fact you're watching this discussion is hopeful. Does any of that ring true for you, looking from the inside?

It depends on if the contact is lawful or unlawful

Re names, Jewish families very often changed or used anglicised versions of their surnames and chose very English first names for their children. Jewish people are well known for successful assimilation. On the other hand, we assimilate so successfully that we lose our culture...my kids don't identify with their ethnicity & my generation will probably be the last Jewish generation in my bloodline. More recently, I work with a lot of Chinese people & they almost all use western names instead of their Chinese names.

I'd agree but I'm say that middle class liberals want that even more
