  1. No drug should be taken before work. Why ban both? Because drugs including alcohol are used responsibly by many people and they bring pleasure and relaxation. Prohibition makes criminals out of otherwise law-abiding people and divert police and courts away from crimes that actually harm society.

  3. The harms include not just physical harm but also psychological, impact on others & society. Heroin is a factor behind a huge proportion of acquisitive crime & family breakdown. I use (& love) both alcohol & cannabis (since very early teens) & work in the field of mental health. Through all the people I know I would say cannabis has harmed some people, some have developed mental illness, some become absolute bedroom dwelling losers. But the people harmed by alcohol had worse effects; dementia & cognitive impairment, violence, liver failure and many others were harmed by the people with alcohol problems. Cannabis is not benign and needs to be treated with respect. But alcohol can be lethal.
