@jonahtwhale1779 in my country, UK, if the father also has parental responsibility then the mother cannot arrange to have the child adopted without his agreement. From what I know of safe haven laws (we don't have them), the law applies to parents not just mothers. Infanticide is not the charge in every case of a mother killing a baby, it is specifically if it is found that her mental state was destabilised as a result of the birth (post partum psychosisfor example). In many cases, the charge is murder. If a father kills a child and it is found it was because he was not sane at the time, there would also be a difference in charges. Both parents may abandon the child to the other parent and be compelled to pay child support
