@marilynbatten5365 I'm not saying I'm a socialist or defending authoritarian regimes. I'm saying that the point about each according to need & ability doesn't in principle allow for scroungers & layabouts. Personally I support mixed economies of state services eg utilities, trains with well regulated capitalism to prevent monopolies & corporate takeover, with state benefits for those who truly need it (people with disabilities, maternity leave, pensions) without incentivising unemployment for others

@marilynbatten5365 I agree, awesome comment. But Marxism says each according to their ability. Marxism isn't about letting able people scrounge off other able people, it's about providing for people who are not able.

@SeraphsWitness it needs to be verified by medical professionals, some things wouldn't need ongoing verification (eg Downs's syndrome) but other things would only get allowed for period of recovery time.
