  1. My favorite has to be Louise de Kérouaille. Louise, always treated Queen Catherine of Braganza with respect; in return, Catherine defended Louise during the anti-Catholic hysteria of the so-called “Popish Plot” of 1678. She was the epitome of everything a proper mistress should be.
