Indeed, but you are comparing the movement and activities of barbaric tribes during the fall of the Roman Empire with the systematic centralised policy of colonisation of Ireland by England. Ireland was laboratory for testing the various command and control systems which were employed in the establishment of what is often called England's first empire - the colonisation of North American.   3. Well, if you understood the nature of the border in Ireland - it runs through villages, homes, workplaces and separates churches from their graveyards - you would have a different point of view. Imagine if a vote in Ireland meant border checks between where you live and your next city/town/village/next door neighbour on your island.

  4. TWICE now is it? The UK took out a loan of 3.25 million for Ireland and charged an interest rate with a margin that benefited HM Treasury. It did so in order to protect the UKs 5th largest export market and because of the exposure of British banks to the Irish bank collapse. It was a not a bribe to Ireland, nor was it charity. It does not give the UK the right to expect Ireland should surrender its national interests to suit the whim of English nationalists. Ireland is an independent and sovereign country.

The Normans did not invade Ireland in the 1060s - they invaded England, and the Norse were also part of the movement of barbarians that took place during the fall of the Roman empire . They were subsequently defeated politically and gradually assimilated. 'You do like blaming England for Scottish policies don't you..?' What Scottish policies? The Plantation of Ulster was the organised during the reign of King James VI & I - the self-styled 'King of Great Britain'. While most of the colonists came from Scotland, those involved in planning and overseeing the plantation were King James, the Lord Deputy of Ireland, Arthur Chichester (English), and the Attorney-General for Ireland, John Davies (English). They saw the plantation as a means of controlling, anglicising and "civilising" Ulster. The Scottish colonists were mostly Presbyterian and the English mostly members of the Church of England. The idea that the Ulster Plantation is the responsibility of the Scots speaks to your historical ignorance. 'Come back to me when you are talking sense...' You will take your education.
