How many people have died because of the Swiss border?

There was never any 'good deal' post Brexit. That was a lie peddled to a well groomed English population.

I couldn't care less whether the UK is in the Euro, and there is no 'review' of the opt out in 3 years time.
2
Once again Stephen, the UK and Denmark both have opt-outs from the Euro. That means both countries are not joining the Euro. These opt outs have no time limit. Please stop exhibiting your complete ignorance all over the internet, I'm embarrassed for you.

'Its clear now that the Republic of Ireland are not happy having a deal with the U.K. outside the E.U' It's only clear NOW!

The UK is about to ask for an extension. It is not certain the EU will grant one.

de Valera was not an Irish name either. What's your point?

Ireland is not playing 'victim', the UK is. Brexit is British policy, there is no Irish support for it. You are on your own, sorry.

Unfortunately, Brexit is incompatible with Irish interests. You cannot leave the EU because nobody in Ireland, north or south, apart from the DUP (and not all of them), want Brexit. Why should Ireland be collateral damage for your Brexit?

@ Stephen 11% of Irish exports go to the UK. The UK sells more to Ireland than the Irish sell to the UK. The Irish get no cash from the UK. The backstop was a suggestion of the UK government under May, not an EU idea. The EU agreed to it in the WA. The UK is still in the EU - it should have left in March. The EU is standing by Ireland, and will continue to stand by Ireland after you leave ( if you ever manage it).

Sorry, what?

Not only that Peter Johnson, politicians across the EU know more and understand better, Ireland and the GFA, than the vast majority of English Brexiters. Its extraordinary.

On the contrary, the UKs departure from the EU has weakened the UK to such an extent that there has been a power shift in these islands that will become much more apparent over time. In other words, Ireland in the EU will have a huge say in your relationship with the EU in the years ahead. You are going to need Ireland, so be nice. Ireland has not has not sent 80% of its trade to the UK UK since about the early 1960s. It was only about 71% in 1972; its is 11% today. Over 50% of Irish beef and diary products go to the UK. Beef and diary are the 9th and 10th largest exports out of Ireland. If the people of Ireland hang out Varadkar and Coveney to dry, it will not be over Brexit, and they will be replaced by politicians from other parties, who will exactly the same as far as your are concerned. For the first time in 800 years, Ireland will be the one with the power in Anglo-Irish relations. 'Long runs the fox', indeed.
