@ gebbletook Given her attitude to her new country, it sounds to me like Jana Alkarajeh is and will be an asset to Ireland.

I think your comment is out dated. What you describe certainly applied to the role of Britain, France and Belgium etc during the colonial period, but usually these days the biggest enemy of African nations are its own corrupt governments.
6
HTHAMMACK1 In what sense?
5
Rich countries? Poor Countries? Ireland is number one when it has the greatest debt to gdp ratio in the world...
4
Abrahktil CdA - Your comment tells me you know nothing about Ireland except some information about its corporate taxation policies. I think that is why you are so clueless.
3
Its actually numbers based on criteria. The criteria stays the same.
3
Realistic Clear mind A lag in data. China has been building infrastructure all across Africa over the last few years.
3
Kenith McIntosh I agree, and you are no exception to the rule.
3
A nations tax policy is not a criterium.
3
Paul McCloud Judged? I'm still judging millions. Given the nature of the Brexitiers political rhetoric it seems odd to me that any Brexitier would have a problem with one person judging millions. Unless you are frustrated Remainer, of course. As for me, I am merely guilty of conflating racism with xenophobia. I am forever in your debt Paul, for providing me with an opportunity to clarify my position.
2
Maybe its not what the Irish didn't do, but what the other countries did. Sweden is number one now - look at how many refugees the took in last year? Ireland took in almost none.
2
Pete, Finland is providing troops to UN Peacekeeping operations...just like Sweden.
2
Kenith McIntosh Indeed - like in the Congolese province of Katanga in the 1960s: the local African population colluded with the the Belgian mining companies. There is never a shortage of Africans looking to get one over on their fellow Africans. Greedy western companies are seemingly aided and abetted in their exploitation, with few exceptions, by Africa's own 'leaders'.
2
Kenith McIntosh Trump and Hillary are only fooling the Americans and Putin, only the Russians (actually, they're not fooled, most didn't even bother to vote in the last election - they new the result already!). So much for that argument. Corruption is not unique to Africa for sure, but Africans need to grow up and take responsibility for themselves - nobody is going to do it for them.
2
Derpy Derp There's a lot your not sure of. Clueless, in fact. Most indentured servants had the prospect of freedom, African slaves did not. Any peer-reviewed research will confirm this - your 'history books' are written by pseudo historians in the US, imbued with racism and a tendancy to read history backwards. You have no knowledge of history or the study of the subject. Your inability to flesh out any of your 'arguments' is noted.
2
Do you think so? Ireland dropped out of the top ten when it acquired the greatest debt to gdp ratio in the world. Yet it still remains in 11th position, not last.
1
***** Indeed, but when it was number one, it was not the richest country, even in Europe, either. There are other factors.
1
I thought it was fourth in the world.
1
'So people who want to rule themselves are racist?'. Only if they want it for racist rule themselves for racist reasons. Most British people wanted 'independence' because immigrants are being scape goated for economic mismanagement across swathes of Britain. They believed it.
1
There is a time lag in the data...its about 5 years out of date.
1
It is when if it is measured per capita.
1
America does do alot of good, but its foreign aid tends to have strings attached and it invades people. This damages the perception of the US throughout much of the world.
1
No he doesn't. He wants to start a debate. Did you even watch the video?
1
No, there is a time lag of about 5 years in the data. Ireland's current data dates from the period when it acquired the greatest debt to gdp ratio in the world.
1
You should watch the TED talk. The index is ONLY based on what these countries do outside their borders - in other words, it is measured on the attitude of these nations to the rest of the world. The USA does much good in the world, but it is undermined by lots of bad stuff too.
1
***** It does. There are usually strings attached to donations and aid.
1
Marcos, apparently perception is also a criteria for measuring the attitude of a country to the rest of the world.
1
Kenith McIntosh Nor am I here to spoon feed you.
1
Kenith McIntosh Not now, I'm not!
1
Asher Touitou Like what?
1
Asher Touitou I agree, he's bluffing.
1
Derpy Derp In fairness, there is no comparison between indentured servitude and the Atlantic Slave Trade. An african slave had no prospect of freedom in his/her lifetime, nor did his/her children...
1
Asher Touitou It is a weak argument to blame black people for the Atlantic Slave Trade. It would be like blaming Irish people for British misrule because they are both caucasion peoples.
1
Asher Touitou My bad.
1
Derpy Derp Europeans paid for African slaves. They exploited black people to do their dirty work - they rounded up victims from rival tribes for them. It was a classic case of 'he who pays the piper calls the tune'. Get back to me when you have got the beginnings of an argument.
1
Asher Touitou There's a difference between kidnapping and enslavement, Asher. Inform yourself.
1
Asher Touitou Why? what answer do you want?
1
Derpy Derp I know exactly what you are saying. It is self serving, short-sighted and wrong. Your ignorance is not equal to my knowledge and knowledge does not make me a 'liberal' - I'm just not a racists. Get back to me when you've got the beginnings of an argument.
1
You emphatically failed to support your arguments and by extension mine still stand. I accept your surrender.
1
Oh you are free to 'disregard' as you wish, as long you don't confuse it with being correct. And I didn't win - you 'disregarded' my argument, essentially calling me a bigot and gave up. You patted yourself on the back leaving my arguments unassailed by any counter argument supported by facts. My points still stand.
1
You don't understand the criteria. Its not about how nations behave within their own countries that they are judged on, its how they relate to other countries.
1
I'm trying to think of a country that is getting a bad rap in the media about something and does not deserve it...
1
OMG THEY KILLED KENNY! Hmmm..India. Interesting choice. Yes, I've heard about the rape problem, the poverty is famous but not unique. I've heard India questioned for accepting aid and having widespread poverty in places while finding the money to develop a nuclear capability. Still - same could be said of China or even the United States to some extent...
1
But you don't know anything about Ireland, how can you comment?
1
Well, John Hill, America is making a bollox of policing the world, so maybe this is why it is not number one.
1
Auntie Semite I'd say your a barrel of laughs at party Auntie.
1
Auntie Semite You might want to work on your charisma. You also need to learn to package your message: your belief in satan is not inclusive of athiests.
