David, are you suggesting the UK gives a shit about Ireland?. We already know it doesn't.
The UK is not 'Ireland's biggest customer', the United States is; furthermore, Ireland's exports to the EU are three time larger than its exports to the UK. It is however, a vital market for the bulk of Irish agricultural produce.
You do know that the UK exports more to Ireland than vice versa? You do know that Ireland is worth more to the UK economy than all of the exports to Brazil, Russia, India and China combined, by a factor of two? AND its right on you doorstep, and as gravity applies in economics, its value is worth more to the UK than the same exports going to another continent. By leaving the Single Market, and Customs Union, you will be putting a barrier to your exports to Ireland.
Ireland wishes to remain in the EU - in fact, support for EU membership now stands and 92%, UP 4% since last year. Brexit is making Irish membership of the EU more popular!
Best of luck!
