Comments by "Taint ABird" (@taintabird23) on "EU nations start assessing post-Brexit trade deal with UK as ambassadors get briefed" video.
There is 90% support for EU membership in Ireland; it got the customs border in the Irish Sea and tariff and quota free access to the UK market; Brexit has pushed Ireland into establishing independent access to the Single Market, bypassing the UK landbridge. Ireland will not be leaving the EU no matter how much you 'hope' for it.

@jintarokensei3308 The other way around? I don't understand.

@jintarokensei3308 Yes, I could see that happening.

@mikepost8965 I think you have hit the nail on the head. I too was wondering why the obsession with others leaving the EU, and belief that the EU will collapse: it would bring validation to a act that will otherwise be self-inflicted harm.

Ireland is an option for those wishing to study English, it is already a large industry experiencing a boom since 2016. Problem solved.

@safewaycart You are conflating two sectors, I believe: English Language Schools and the University system. English language schools attract students from all over the world; the Universities are expanding to accommodate EU and American students. I have no doubt there are more opportunities to be exploited from Brexit. Luxembourg’s prime minister Xavier Bettel, Spain’s prime minister Pedro Sánchez and Austria’s chancellor Sebastian Kurz all learned their English in Ireland. The leader of the opposition in the Ukraine also learned her English in Ireland.

@safewaycart At all levels, there are opportunities in the Irish education system for graduate and post graduate students. Post pandemic, there may well be even further opportunities, as the online infrastructure could well open new doors to access.

@safewaycart There is an old saying in Ireland: 'England's difficulty is Ireland opportunity'. I expect the Irish government is already planning to make the most of whatever opportunities Brexit presents for Ireland. Incidentally, I was staggered that the UK government refused participation in the Erasmus programme, what a spiteful act against its own young people. I suspect it is to ensure there is no encouragement of the pro-EU lobby in the UK.
